Register To Vote in India Online 2024

Voting is an important part of an Indian election we all know with the help of the voting; we can select the right candidate or the Indian political party. In India you’re eligible to vote after age of 18 or above.

If you’re above 18 you can participate in voting but before that you need to complete the Voter Registration or Voter ID. According to the India laws He / She cannot be able to vote without the Voter ID.

What is Voter Registration or Voter ID?

The voter registration or Voter ID is a type of identification that has information about you such as your Full Name, Date of Birth, Permanent Address, Electoral Photo Identity Card Number and more.

Indian Citizens should apply to the Vote ID after the age of 18 to take part in election voting. You can easily get your Voter Registration from Election Commission of India (ECI) office or from Collector Office in your city.

How To Apply to Voter Registration in India?

Once you’re above 18 years old you can apply for your Voter ID card.

Step 1: Go to the Election Commission of India (ECI) website it an official platform to enroll the ID.

Step 2: On the website you will get all information about the Voter Registration or Voter ID such as guidelines, importance of the Voter ID and more.

Step 3: There are lots of forms were available on the website. You only need to select the FORM 6. There are two options you can Download the form or Apply Online citizen of India.

Step 4: Now if you choose to register your voter ID online then first of all you need to Sign Up using your Mobile Number and Email. However, if you’re registered then you only need EPIC number and mobile number to login.

Step 5: Enter the details and fill the captcha and click on Request OTP button. The One Time Password will appear on your registered mobile number. Enter it to login into the website portal.

Step 6: Now you need fill all the required details and upload the documents. In the Form 6 as you can see in the shown image how the form looks like along with information you need to fill it.

Step 7: Following are the details that you need to fill in the Form 6.

  1. Select State, District & AC
  2. Personal Details
  3. Relatives Details
  4. Contact Details
  5. Aadhaar Details
  6. Gender
  7. Date of Birth details
  8. Present Address Details
  9. Disability Details
  10. Family member Details
  11. Declaration
  12. Captcha

Step 8: Once you filled all the details and upload the documents. In last recheck all the your information and documents are correct and in all enter the shown Captcha and choose “Preview and Submit” button.

Step 9: After selecting the Preview and Submit button you will get an email on your registered email address with the link to track the status of your Voter ID application. You approximately receive your Voter ID with 15 to 25 days after applying.

Verification Process

Once you submit the Form 6 the Booth Level Officer will conduct the verification to check all the information is correct or not. Once the verification process is competed you will get your Voter ID card in 15 to 25 days. In case if the verification is failed due to miss information you provided in the Form 6. Then you need to again submit the Form 6 with correct information to get your Voter ID card.

According to the Election commission of the India following are the eligibility criteria to get the Voter ID.

  • You must be Citizen of Indian
  • Your age should above 18 years.
  • You must have permanent address.

Documents Required To Apply For Voter ID in India?

To filling the FORM 6 to get your Voter ID you need to have following documents in digital form.

  • One passport size photo
  • Aadhaar card, Passport, Driving License, Birth Certificate, PAN Card, High School Mark Sheet.
  • Ration Card, Utility Bill.

Track Your Voter ID Application Status

Once you submit the Form 6 correctly you will get the email on your Email address that has the Reference Number of your application. You can use that number to track the status of your application.

Step 1: Go to the  Voter Services Portal.

Step 2: Login into your account using registered mobile number, password and captcha. Select “Request OTP” button enter the One Time Password that you received on mobile phone to login into your account.

Step 3: Then go to the Track Application Status button given at the right top corner as shown in the given image.

Step 4: Enter the Reference Number and choose your State and Submit button.
